Q:  Is the Micro USB power cable required for VGA2HDMIB converter?

A:  No. VGA2HDMIB can be powered by pin 9 (+5V DC power) of VGA connector. Please check whether your VGA port is VESA DDC2 compliant and use a 15-pin VGA cable.

 

VGA2HDMIB can be powered by pin 9 (+5V DC power)

There are two types of VGA cables: 14-pin and 15-pin. The pin 9 was removed on 14-pin cable. Pin 9 was introduced as a +5V DC power supply for data communication Channel (DDC) per VESA DDC2 standard. The adapter can be powered by pin 9 for video conversion. It does not require external power if the pin 9 of VGA +5V DC is available. Please check whether your VGA port is VESA DDC2 compliant and use a 15-pin VGA cable.

The Ableconn VGA2HDMIB VGA to HDMI adapter converts analog VGA video and 3.5mm jack audio to digital HDMI signals with resolution up to 1080p/60Hz. It built with Silicon Image Sil8784 and TI PCM1808 chipset to ensure high quality signals and compatibility with most of HDMI input displays such as projectors, HDTV, home theater systems, etc.
