Customer FAQ

Q 1 .   I have an AMD mini-itx Gigabyte motherboard (GA-F2A88XN-WIFI). Socket FM2+ with an A10 7800 APU. It supports PCI Express gen 3.0, and the motherboard has a PCIe 16x. Can I boot using this adaptor with a Samsung 950 pro?
Answer: It depends on the motherboard BIOS. It requires a UEFI BIOS that supports boot from NVMe such as 950 Pro SSD.
Q 2 .   I am using a Samsung 950 PRO -Series PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD on Windows 7 - 64bit system. I can’t seem to get it working. Any suggestion?
Answer:

Native drive support for NVMe SSDs is built in on Windows 10 / 8, Windows Server 2012 R2, and later. For Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, the native driver can be download from NVMe native driver available via Microsoft Knowledge Base (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2990941). The other option is to install Samsung NVMe Driver driver from the following link: http://www.samsung.com/global/business/semiconductor/minisite/SSD/global/html/support/downloads.html

Q 3 .   Can it be used along with a NVMe SSD for boot drive on Windows 7 64 bit system?
Answer:

The NVMe native driver for Windows 7 is available from Microsoft Knowledge Base (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2990941). You will need to download the Microsoft NVMe native driver to get it to work. As for a boot drive, it depends on your system or motherboard BIOS. If your system BIOS is able to recognize NVMe SSDs, you can make it as a boot drive.  The NVMe native driver is built-in on Windows 10 and 8.
