Customer FAQ

Q 1 .   Are the 10 ports achieved by using port multiplication on the card
Answer: PEX10-SAT is built with ASMedia ASM1062 + 2x JMicron JMB575 chipsets. Yes, we configure the JMB575 as 1 to 5- ports Serial ATA III Port Multiplier to achieve 10 ports.
Q 2 .   I'm trying to set up software RAID on Windows 10. I know that the Ableconn card is not a RAID card, but it should still be suitable for a software RAID, right? Any support that you can provide is greatly appreciated!
Answer: PEX10-SAT is not a RAID card so there is no BIOS level RAID configuration for it. Your motherboard BIOS only recognizes the SATA controllers (hardware RAID or firmware RAID) it supports (controllers within the Intel or AMD chipsets). When booting into Windows 10, Windows Storage Spaces allow you to do software RAID.
Q 3 .   How do I get into the card's BIOS or settings?
Answer: PEX10-SAT is not a RAID card so there is no BIOS level RAID configuration for it.
Q 4 .   What is the drive order (or port sequence) after populated by BIOS?
Answer: PEX10-SAT is implemented with two 1-to-5 PMs (Port Multiplier). There are two ports, #3 and #7 of port 0 - 9, out of sequence. The drive order assignment is determined by BIOS. For example, on one of our motherboards, the BIOS first scans two PMs, and two SATA ports on motherboard, and then the rest of ports behind PMs. The drive order is populated as 4-5-6-"0"-7-8-9-"1"-A-B mapped to port 0-9 labeled on PEX10-SAT. (drive 2-3 are assigned to the two SATA ports on motherboard)
Q 5 .   Does this card support 8TB hard drives?
Answer:

Yes, PEX10-SAT works with 8TB drives.
